Visiting, supporting and praying with people in hospital … to offer them hope.

Several permanent people have the ministry of visiting the sick and the elderly. Volunteers are present once a week.

Some priests accompany this team. The places of mission are the hospitals, the establishments specialising in long stays and homes for the elderly.

Full-time personnel are always there to welcome families, hospital personnel and funeral services.

Then, the team goes to take communion to the sick who ask for it, while remaining contactable by a signal. The visits are made in the afternoon, until 6.00 pm, sometimes later. Each full-time person has one or more services.

One day a week the members of the team meet to share their mission.

Their mission is that of compassion lived in listening and a friendly welcome of the person into order to assist them to trust and to express themselves in their suffering and in their beliefs. From time to time, a word opens the doors to go further with the Lord. These visits permit beautiful encounters with the sick and their families, welcomed for the preparation of the funeral ; the members of the team are moreover often led to concern themselves entirely with the funerary celebrations.

The team seeks other volunteers because the task is enormous. Josseline, for example, visits about 90 sick people every week !
