What is the call to Holiness for couples in the Emmanuel ?

The couples and families in the Community answer a call, which might appear in various ways: a meeting, an evening school for couples.... The vital part is to follow Christ, live on His love in spite of their weaknesses and be a witness in the world. To commit in the Emmanuel, is to wish to live the Gospel in the heart of the Church and of the world, while relying on the brothers and sisters, (families, single people, priests and the consecrated), who are the "Emmanuel" for us.

A couple with God

The couples seek to let God visit, enlighten and renew the various aspects of their married and family life. This union with God comes true in particular by the prayer, the fraternal life and the Eucharistic worship, that reflects constantly in mutual dialogue, the gift of oneself in marital intimacy, parental responsibility and the capacity to forgive one another. They so experiment, in the humility of their daily life, how much God is close to them and their human concerns and that, without Him, they can neither do anything nor bear real fruits.

The family - A community of life and love

A family which agrees to make of it’s home a "small Church" becomes a unique reflection of the face of God: fidelity, the generous gift of life, hospitality, opening out to others in spite of the various preoccupations, the spirit of praise and joy even when in difficulties, fidelity to the covenant in the heart of marital difficulties, perseverance in self-sacrifice, the sobriety of life, the welcoming of poor, etc. Isn't this the direction of the sacrament of marriage? A human love that becomes, thanks to the gifts of God, a sign of the Love of God for men.

Holiness in couple

It is not a question so much to seek to be witnesses through a moral life without fault, but to let God live in us and change our hearts. It is necessary to overturn a certain image of holiness that one assimilates to a form of perfection. Holiness is just to remain in the Lord. Through this love that is received and lived, we desire to share it as good news for all. We then seek to testify around us to this loving presence and consolation of the Lord who wants to be offered to all the men of our time.

Witnesses of hope

This love, received, lived, shared as Good News, also shows the loving presence and compassion of the Lord who wants to be offered to all men of our time. What a hope for people who more or less conform to what the Church proposes (and, for some, very wounded in their affectivity) as a way of trustful offering of oneself in the mercy of God! If God is really "with us", then the couples can radiate in joy to a greater number - first to their children – the infinite love of God.
