Single people, men or women, also commit themselves in
Emmanuel Community.
 Mystery of expectation
Single people do not have the security which a married
life or a consecrated vocation can give. They experiment a lack, an examination
which leads them to be witnesses of the expectation in which all Christians are
called to live, whatever his/her state of life maybe. Their only actual
certainty - certainty of faith, the desire of God never fully filled here - is
that they have to live for Christ, to say to him one "yes" without
reserve, to repeat it day after day, to aspire to this encounter with Him. In
this direction, the single people of the Community are all particularly
witnesses of hope.
A radical testimony
As all those who are committed to following Christ,
the single people of the Community have to live chastity related to their
situation of current life. In a hedonistic society, the acceptance of this
lifestyle is at the same time demanding as well as prophetic. All the members
of the Community recognize the beauty of the testimony of the single people in
this domain and commit themselves in their turn to support them particularly in
this way.
Presence in the world and Missionary availabilityThe single people are also special signs
in the Community of the call to the mission in the world, by their professional
activity and by all their engagements in their life - social, associative,
cultural, etc. The world is the privileged place where, in their various
activities, they can deploy their fruitfulness and their gift of themselves for
the construction of the civilization of love. The freedom that characterizes
them makes it possible for them to enter a real availability for the mission,
to take more risks for the Lord, to live this audacity to which the Gospel
calls us.
