Since 1949, large numbers of Catholics have been
coming on pilgrimage to venerate the Virgin Mary at the parish church of Saint
Gilles in L’Ile-Bouchard. These pilgrimages have born the fruit of many graces.
While never yielding to the attraction of the sensational, these pilgrimages
promote a spirit of prayer and help to increase the faith of those who take
part.
Having carefully investigated the facts and sought
competent advice, I authorise these pilgrimages and the public worship invoking
Our Lady of Prayer, celebrated in the parish church of Saint Gilles at
L’Ile-Bouchard under the pastoral responsibility of the parish priest.
