Program of the evening

  • Parish priest/deacon or lay person greets the participants with a short description of the project and presents the program of the evening
  • Learning of a song of adoration (CD can be provided if need be)
  • Half-hour teaching
  • Song learned at the beginning of the session is sung
  • Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, then adoration is in complete silence
  • Song is sung again, then priest blesses the assembly.
  • Optional time of sharing

The program is very flexible and can be adapted to each situation.

In parishes or prayer groups, existing songs of adoration can be used. The group then can then start with a few praise songs.

Teachings are provided in advance as well as handed out to each participant right before adoration. They contain quotes and concrete points that can help enter into prayer. At home, this handout is a good follow up and can help with individual prayer.

These teachings are written in such a way that people with limited teaching experience can deliver them to the group. This can also help people discover a charism for teaching among those who never dared to try ! But these documents only provide a foundation for the teachers (who may adapt them in length or add personal testimonies). In any event, the time allocated to the teaching should remain short.

For the first session, Eucharistic adoration should only last 15 minutes to accommodate those who are discovering this form of prayer. Then, the time can gradually increase to half-an-hour.

Whenever a priest or deacon is not available, one can adore the opened Tabernacle.

To conclude, the priest can bless the assembly from the altar or by processing through the Church with the monstrance.

In some parishes, a time of fellowship can be organized in a hall or informally in front of the Church.

The main advantage of the school is that only takes 2 people to organize. It can be done in many circumstances, including places where there are a limited numbers of helpers.

The goals of the school are :

  1. Provide an opportunity for a personal encounter with the Lord in the Eucharist.
  2. Develop and deepen this relationship from session to session.
  3. To let Christ's virtues flourish in our hearts, in particular compassion
  4. Then our desire to share this treasure and evangelize will grow...

The hope is that the participants will start their own times of adoration on a weekly or bi-weekly basis in their parish
