1. The Real
Presence in the Eucharist
The first teaching presents a reflection on the
mystery of the Eucharist. It features quotes such as “The Eucharist is too
great a gift to tolerate ambiguity and depreciation” (MANE NOBISCUM DOMINE,
14). At the beginning of the school, this teaching makes sure that all
participants share the same understanding : when we adore, we adore Jesus truly
present in the Blessed Sacrament.
2. Learning
prayer with Martha and Mary.
This teaching features a general
introduction to prayer. It is a decision, involving a sacrifice of our time. We
first bring ourselves into His presence which leads to a dialogue with Him. We
then open our hearts to Him followed by silence which enables us to listen to
His Word. This is done by looking at the Gospel passage featuring Martha and
Mary.
3. Prayer of petition
In this teaching, we learn about prayer
of petition, which is common to all men. As we meditate on the healing of the
blind Bartemeus, we reach out to all the participants who have all experienced
this type of prayer.
4. Adoration, praise and thanksgiving
Here, we bring the group to a form of
prayer that is usually less familiar : adoration, praise and thanksgiving. This
is the time when we acknowledge and admire God's works in the world and in our
lives.
5. God's merciful love
As an introduction to the 6th teaching on
our relation to the Father, we will meditate on God's merciful love as revealed
by Jesus.
6. The love of the Father
7. The Holy Spirit, Lord and giver of life
8. Living in God's presence
This teaching focuses on the necessity to live in
God's presence, present in our souls as the Trinity. During Eucharistic
adoration, we adore the One who is also present within us.
9. God's Word
10. Mary
This is a time to celebrate Mary, the Eucharistic
woman. Students are encouraged to learn from Mary how to adore and to adore
Christ with her.
11. The Heart of Jesus and the Eucharist.
We continue to deepen our understanding
of God's love by learning about the devotion to the Heart of Jesus and how it
ties in with the Eucharist.
12. Eucharist and Mission
Finally, we will look at the
responsibility of Christians in the world and the need for evangelization as a
way to send them off to the mission. “The Eucharist : Source and Summit of the
Life and Mission of the Church”.
