A ministry of listening and praying 24/7

In 1979, the Emmanuel Community launched Prayer SOS, as a ministry of listening and praying over the phone.

Neither being a psychologist, nor a counselor, nor a spiritual director, the listener, with the help of the Word of God and the Eucharistic presence in the chapel's tabernacle, strives to be a brother or a sister to any caller who is willing to surrender his pain to the Lord ... or give thanks. The listener is a humble servant who turns to the Lord to present the caller and his intentions.

Day in and day out, every day of the year, 200 listeners take turn in a chapel dedicated to St Joseph. The number of calls has grown from 5,000 the first year to 40,000/year today. Each call is recorded in a notebook so as to gather all the intentions and present them to the Lord during times of prayer or liturgies.

The awesome power of prayer

Prayer SOS is lived out as a service to others with faith in the awesome power of prayer. The only support provided is the immediate, and continuous, intercessory prayer to the One, whose merciful heart longs to appease our souls and to give us life abundantly.

The fruits of prayer, in most cases, remain in the secret depths of our hearts and of the Lord's.

You can also entrust your intentions to us or give thanks ; brothers and sisters will present them daily to our Lord. Join in these intentions, which are recorded on our website, as you offer a decade of the rosary, a time of adoration, a Eucharistic liturgy, a fast, a day of abstention from a favorite drink ….
